When I wan in New Zealand , my Android can pay anything (contactless) and because contactless buses and a lot of public transportation in NZ I can just pay with the card on my phone and tab at the terminal to pay at the bus(tap in and out).

We in NYC are now getting to use Apple Pay for mass transit. OMNY is pretty much our answer to Suica, if the MTA releases physical OMNY cards that will replace the current Metrocard. As for everything else, adoption of Apple Pay/Google Pay is still pretty slow since there's a tradition of cash only establishments that is very hard to shake.

I’m an iPhone user and always will be
But Samsung pay is the best smartphone paying feature. You can use your Samsung on old credit card readers that don’t have chip readers, that were manufactured 10 years ago.
Just wish Samsung had updates, iMessage, airdrop, better UI, cameras that can maintain focus on video *s20* cough cough
Then maybe I’d have a 10% chance of switching

Now, I Live in Birmingham, England. We have a transport system, it's called 'N Network', it comprises of buses, trains, trams, bikes, you name it! Now, we have things called 'Swift Cards' which work like the london Oyster Card, you slap it on the reader and your either on the bus or your train, but it isnt like that at the same time. You order it online or go to the travel shop in New street station, then they ask what kind of Pass you want, You can have an 'N Bus', which is just for the buses, an 'N Train', which is just for trains, and then a 'N Network' which is for everything. What would be interesting is to see if NWM would do it on the phones like Suicica, sorry if I mis-spelt it. Comment if youd like to see this too!

One of the main reasons I stay with Samsung is because of Samsung Pay's MST technology, it's accepted everywhere because it tricks the card reader into thinking it's a real card using magnets, not just NFC, if apple had this I would probably consider switching

in Japan we can't live w/o Felica cuz NFC will take much time to pass the passengers. and we use Suica as daily payment.

In Hong Kong the equivalent is Octopus. It's used for everything. But unlike Suica you can have it auto-refill a set amount up to once per day, making it more convenient as it will never run out unexpectedly as long as you don't use it for high-priced purchases. Octopus for ApplePay will be released in late 2019.

I live in Oregon and we use a thing called Hop pass for our public transit and busses. I have it on my iPhone 8 and I find it super useful to just tap my phone to the contact and get on, no putting change in the machine on a bus trying to leave quickly, nor worrying about if all the pay stations at the Max stops are taken, because you can walk up to a contact and tap your phone. I do know these same features are available on Android, but having it also on iPhone makes me more likely to start using Apple Pay to buy things, etc.
